Photography is, since quite a while already, one of my hobbys. And lately it has become a passion.
I started taking photos as a kid, with a plastic camera from which I don't remeber the name. But I still have the negatives.
When I was 14 I got an old Yashica from my father, with a fix lens and all manual settings. With it I took my first courses and I
started developing in B&W. I had, more or less, unlimited access to film and lab. And I spent many hours practising. If look at
the pictures now they don't seem much, but back then they were real achievements.
During my studies I stayed in a dorm and I had free access to a B&W lab. I gave some courses to show my friends how to develop
their photos. Also I spent many nights under the red light, with the company of music, observing how the images showed up in the
developer.
At that time I bought my first SLR, a Canon EOS 500N with a 28-80 and a 80-200. I started to take some photos in colour, combining photography
and travel. This camera came with me to many countries in Europe and Africa. The setup increased with the time, as I added new lenses.
After spending lots of money in film, and having a 3 months trip to China ahead, I moved on to digital. Just before my trip the Canon EOS 300D came
into the market. Afterwards I upgraded it to the 350D and lately to the 40D.
I think that working digital has allowed me to improve my photography. The instant feedback enables you to check the shot and repeat it if something
went wrong. Also, being able to publish the photos in forums, and receive comments, gives you lots of valuable information.
I hope to continue my progress and learn a lot. Meanwhile I enjoy hearing the shutter as often as possible.
